The 5th SIMM research seminar is organized by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Copenhagen Centre for Research in Artistic Citizenship (CReARC/RMC) and the research platform SIMM (in collaboration with the Academic Chair Jonet / CESAMM) and will be focussing on research on which music is proposed/created within social and community music projects.
The seminar is planned to take place from 5 to 8th September 2022 at the Guildhall School in London.
This research-seminar will welcome a small group of 20 post-graduate students, early-career researchers as well as experienced researchers – who are all involved in ongoing research on the possible role of music in social and community music programmes – to spend a 4-day seminar during which they will share their research experiences with eachother.
The following facilitators will help the sharing of experiences and ideas and research methodologies: An De bisschop (University College Ghent – Conservatory of Music / Academic Chair Jonet, BE), Imogen Flower (Guildhall School of Music, London, UK) and Maria Westvall (Centre for Research in Artistic Citizenship / CReARC/RMC, Copenhagen, DK). They will be assisted by John Sloboda (Guildhall School of Music, London, UK) and Lukas Pairon (SIMM & Academic Chair Jonet, BE).
The scientific committee for this seminar is composed of: An De bisschop, Filip Verneert, Maria Westvall, John Sloboda, Lukas Pairon and Brydie-Leigh Bartleet.
