SIMM-seminar 6:
Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona 12-14 June 2023
(research seminar on participatory opera and music theatre)
The 6th SIMM research seminar was organized by the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the research platform SIMM (in collaboration with the Academic Chair Jonet / CESAMM) and focussed on research on participatory opera and music theatre.
The seminar took place from 12 to 14th June 2023 at the Liceu in Barcelona. Here you can find the report on this research seminar.
This research-seminar welcomed a small group of 9 post-graduate students, early-career researchers as well as experienced researchers – who are all involved in ongoing research on the possible role of music in social and community music programmes – to spend a 3-day seminar during which they shared their research experiences with each other.
The following facilitators helped the sharing of experiences and ideas and research methodologies: Dr. Imogen Flower (Irene Taylor Trust / Guildhall School of Music, UK), Dr. Graça Mota (IPP-CIPEM Porto, PT) and Prof. Dr. Lukas Pairon (Chair Jonet / CESAMM, Ghent University, BE).
The scientific committee for this seminar was composed of: Imogen Flower, Graça Mota, Lukas Pairon, John Sloboda, Irene Calvis and Brydie-Leigh Bartleet.
On the SIMM-podcast practitioners and researchers shared their thoughts, experiences and research on different aspects of participatory music-making proposed or co-created within social and community music theatre projects.
